Try this remedy: stop trying so hard. That probably sounds odd, but bear with me here. I noticed a phenomenon when I back off of trying to figure something out: the solution came to me later. I then compared my remedy with others and found that itworked for them too. It’s pretty simple and goes like this:

Walk away from the problem. Sleep on it. Clean the house. Do another project. Just stop directing energy or attention at solving whatever it is that’s stumping you. Put your attention on something else. Maybe for a day or a few days.

To your amazement a solution will pop into your head when you least expect it. Maybe you’ll wake up with the answer, find some old notes or magazine article or stumble upon it in the middle of the night.

The point is, take the path of least resistance and allow your mind to ease.
